As a kid, I was always the jumpy and curious type, wanting to meet new people all of the time. These traits have continued to follow me throughout my life. It is safe to say that I am not very shy. When I heard about Project Bread’s Community Outreach Fellow position, I knew this would be a place where I could focus my energy and excitement. I am studying public health at the Sargent College at BU and I value the opportunity to spread the word about food insecurity. What people fail to notice is that hunger is a problem right here in Boston and Massachusetts alike. Actually talking to folks and making a difference in my own community really means a lot to me. I hope to take away as much from this experience as I put in. I look forward to talking to families and gaining a real understanding of what difficulties are experienced every day.
